Once known for its timber industry, Jackson County's economy is now much more diverse, featuring growing employment trends in health care, retail, and leisure & hospitality. Major thoroughfares in Medford presently bursting at the seams from residential and retail growth, Phoenix—just south of Medford—and The Shoppes at Exit 24, are ideally positioned to encourage further regional growth in retail trade.
Medford's estimated population is 73,960 and is the largest city in Jackson County. Known for its pear orchards and as the world headquarters of Harry & David, Medford is a popular shopping destination for Jackson County's nearly 200,000 residents and central to the many recreational opportunities in Southern Oregon.
The second largest city in Jackson County, Ashland (population 21,630), is a popular destination for over 350,000 people per year and home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival which draws nearly one-third of those visitors annually.
Phoenix, situated between Medford and Ashland, sees local traffic on Highway 99 as well as regional and interstate traffic on I-5.
